Much like the  "Magical Negro" Trope , the  "Idiot Savant" Trope  has been codified and re-used over and over again by Hollywood to portray their idea of the "typical" autistic person.

Well besides the 'Genius Autist' trope, I believe there's also the 'Psychic Autist' trope which seems common in horror movies. Like Danny in The Shining.

It's like in Hollowood Movies us Aspies are only redeemable if we have an impressively high IQ or we are psychically inclined enough to warn everyone of evil spirits and other dangers.

This may come under the definition of the  Inspirationally Disadvantaged Trope , which also seems to be common in Hollywood productions, especially Hallmark movies.

TVTropes.com is a great resource for both script writers and movie fans.

I love TVtropes! 8)

And another good link to a trope that explains what I'm talking about is called 'Neurodiversity is Supernatural' where characters suffering from conditions like autism or schizophrenia are psychically gifted. :)

Yeah, the way we are treated by Hollyweird -- as objects of "Inspiration Porn" -- saddens me.

It's why I don't particularly like Hollowood anymore. They warp people's perception of the most vulnerable in our society. :|

The late Stella Young had a marvelous take on this...

I'm not your inspiration, thank you very much

But... a lot of us have mad skills in narrow areas, often paired with an intense interest and particular memory - while having blank spots and an odd lack of skills in other areas.
the confused-but-brilliant professor trope, basically. Not quite the idiot-savant, but halfway there.
