I'm often very good at spotting details, but I also have a penchant for missing the glaringly obvious.

That is maybe not very helpful...

It needs to be done via PM, so my posts do not get deleted.

It looks like someone's reputation could get ruined, so they're doing anything to defend it.

Just keep in mind that WP rules apply to PMs as well and violations of them can and should be reported, so if something inappropriate happened in private, there's a route to deal with it. Also, if we know more, we can make better decisions.
If mediation is required, we can also try to help.
Please, avoid making potentially harmful moves behind someone's back. It leads to the situation getting even worse.
