Many of those hi-vis vests look extremely clean, even with creases. Fresh out of the packet by any chance?

Most high-vis worn by tradies on commercial sites looks like that - It's used to advertise their employers (or site...or union), so is "tax deductible" for the companies, as well as providing advertising for them (think of it as a uniform of sorts - which is expected to be clean and presentable each day, both for presentation, as well as for safety\visibility which is it's primary purpose)... And it is those tradies who are behind the protest, as they are the ones with the lunch-rooms closed down, and who are targetted by the mandatory vaccination plans - a self-employed tradie isn't the target of the new restrictions, as their worksite is generally wherever they are called to.

My father-in-law is a chippie who worked on (among other sites) the original casino in Melbourne (We've got a nice desk which has the top made from one of the excess doors they threw out at the site... Nice to work at, but very heavy to move, being solid timber), and parts of Federation Square, and has a lot of high-vis clothing from the sites he's worked at over the years that looks new.

That's scary! America also had anti-lockdown protests for a few months until June 2020, when domestic terrorism spread faster than Covid and continued until the Election Day. Those anti-lockdown protests were very pro-police. Protesters often carried "Back the Blue!" signs (here, "blue" means police, not Democrats), and engaged officers in conversation. The police, in turn, did very little to break up the protests; they had family members who suffered mental health issues and financial problems from the lockdowns, and were tired of being lightning rods for liberals.

All of this could be avoided if only Australia embraced their true queen, Romana Didulo. 8)

Careful or she'll announce it's been renamed to Southern Canada.
