Not sure if we'll be getting aftershocks on this one [1]... When it started, I thought it was just the "shaking" from a large truck going past, but when I couldn't hear any heavy vehicles (and it went longer than I would have expected), I guessed it must be an earthquake - I just hadn't realised it was quite as big as it turned out to have been.

As a side note, I wonder how the people at the top of Eureka tower and "Australia 108" felt...

[1]Update - According to a relative who lives near Falls Creek (closer to where earthquake happened than Melbourne is), there's been a few aftershocks felt in the area, and they're a bit reluctant to head inside at the moment.

I was getting ready to go out the door when the Earthquake happened, the windows shook and the bells on the cat tower were ringing, my cat took off up the passage before it happened.

^ Goodness, big and shallow! No wonder it was felt over a wide area. When I was a little kid, I was in an earthquake about 6.1 in magnitude and only 7 km deep. I've got no memory of it personally, but my poor mother thought the world was coming to an end.

I swear, you Victorians are having all the fun right now. :mrgreen:
