Hi everyone,

My name is kelcey and I was just diagnosed with autism today. My therapist suggested this forum as a way to get more information and some support from people who may understand. I have always struggled with making and keeping friends. I have some sensory issues including bed time routine and clothing and planning meals. I guess this I always thought it was just my anxiety or depression until recently social media and therapy put all the pieces together. I have autism. It makes sense. I’m incredibly smart but get burnt out easily. I love making lists and planning ! Everything seems to make sense but at the same time I’m so overwhelmed. I hope someone can relate to this and I can meet some new people!

welcome, congratulations on the diagnosis and wise Dr who advised you come here. Ask loads of questions, the forum is filled with people who have years experience with autism and somebody is sure to have good input and info to share with you in almost any situation or with any question. One of the best things about learning about my autism was that I learned I was not alone, that there were others who understood! Glad you are with us.

Hello. I make lists every other day. If I sorted through my piles of papers and junk I'd probably find lists I made years ago. I can't live without memory joggers, especially when I sudenly have a topic to google. Not writing it down immediately = forgetting and being frustrated yet again. And there is a momentary satisfaction from being able to cross items off as things get done. Oh, and I hate shopping with a vengeance. Nice to meet you.

Hi Kelcey
Welcome to Wrong Planet.
Most NTs have strengths and weaknesses (+ and -)
Aspies are a little different. We have ++ and -- and even some of us have even more extremes +++++ and -----. The secret in life for Aspies is to use your +s to overcome your -s.
