I'm in the process of being diagnosed for ADHD, or more likely ADD and I'm nervous about the whole thing. I read stuff like that ice berg and I start doubting myself, feeling insanely insecure about my problems being legit enough to warrant a diagnosis.
I definitely get the feeling people don't think there's anything to ADHD other than being overly concerned about your own persona. If you explain your difficulty remembering stuff and how oblivious you can be to written signs you just get told it's a typical male trait. -My husband is the same, I believe every man is like that.
Those were the words of the last person who commented on my supposed ADHD after I'd explained a possible reason for not turning up to my vaccination on the first occasion. Then I went ahead and forgot my hat in her room as I was leaving... Good thing she noticed it.
I forget all kind of stuff, but forgetting to go to the bathroom?? Is that not closer to serious dementia? I cannot identify with that, which also makes me extremely unsure. My wife is pretty pretty pretty sure I'm ADHD.
I don't think they mean forgetting to go to the bathroom like soiling yourself, they mean like forgetting the point where it becomes a disruption later.
