I'm writing a show called Hopeless City. It's about a man who struggling to raise his daughter after his wife died from cancer fighting cyborgs. I don't want to think that the show would be similar to Nickelodeon's Constant Payne. Should I tweak it a bit?

Never heard of Constant Payne - google tells me it was a pilot for a show, twenty years ago. So: don't worry, no one will be able to spot similarities to a show that wasn't made.
The fact that it wasn't made however should make you wonder why it wasn't made.

also: why would you die from cancer fighting robots? - cancer fighting robots sound like a good thing, no?

His wife has cancer, not the robots.
