*Sorry about the overly long title the first time around

Quote:
Bond is “an imperialist and he’s a misogynist. He kills people and laughs and sips martinis and wisecracks about it,” Damon, 36, told The Associated Press in an interview …

Paul Greengrass, Damon’s director on Universal’s “Bourne Ultimatum” and its 2004 predecessor, “The Bourne Supremacy,” agreed that Bond is a relic from a different era.

“He’s an insider. He likes being a secret agent. He worships at the altar of technology. He loves his gadgets. And he embodies this whole set of misogynistic values,” Greengrass said. “He likes violence. That’s part of the appeal of the character. He has no guilt. He’s essentially an imperial adventurer of a particularly English sort.

“Personally, I spit on those values. I think we’ve moved on a little bit from all that, the martini shaken, not stirred.”

Thanks Matt and Paul! To be fair, I kinda like the Bourne films. Then again the first one's ending was kind of predictable. But then again it sent a progressive message, that's more important then the story. Oh, but thank God spit on the old imperialist values of old dinosaurs like Dr. No, and From Russia with Love. George Clooney was right about Casablanca! What an old piece of right-wing propaganda that was!

Let's hope you have the same financial success Clooney did!

Maybe Mr Damon should read the James Bond books. The books are nothing like the movies and most of them are damn fine spy novels. In any event, James Bond has adapted to the 21st Century and if he reads some of the later books by John Gardner he'll see this.

I prefer Bourne to Bond. I agree with Greengrass and Damon. Bond is past his prime. It is time for Bourne.

IMG I think I have just come up with the new tagline for Bourne movies.

Matt Damon once did a movie with Greg Kinnear making fun of conjoined twins, which is both semi-offensive and the biggest slam dunk possible as far as cheap comedy goes. Also, I'm a huge James Bond fan. Movie characters aren't supposed to be role models; they're supposed to be entertaining, and James Bond is damn so to many, many people(myself included). So what if it's sexist; it's still good cinema. No one is claiming that one should act like James Bond; I don't think one ought to go around robbing casinos either, but Matt Damon did that in one of his films. Not all movies need to be politically correct, sometimes they can just be entertaining while at the same time being sexist and mysoginist.
