Some varieties have been bred to be "Pie-Perfect", others are suitable only for carving, while still others are fit only for chunking.

The big ones they sell around Halloween have almost no flesh inside and are intended for decoration only. Pie pumpkins are the smallish round ones with darker orange skin. They are filled with sweet flesh.

Yes I know, I grow them every year.But a pumpkin isn’t a Hubbard.Both are squash.
