There is a longstanding thread about theatrical films, however limited TV series presented primarily on streaming services seem to play at least as big a role in our culture now as do feature-length films.

Here are two I would like to see made:

1.) A remake of The Sterile Cuckoo but adhering to the actual book which is radically different from the 1969 film with Lisa Minelli. I think the depiction of the cultural milieu within which the action of the book takes place would be eye-opening and would generate a lot of buzz. That wouldn't have been an issue in 1969 which was 10 years or fewer after the book was published.
2.) Rainbows End, the last really good novel by Vernor Vinge. Almost 20 years old but perhaps more relevant today than when it was written, and also very much in step with today's culture. If you're not familiar with it, it depicts a world in which most people go about their day using wearable VR gear, so the SFX would present what the characters are actually experiencing, using technology that is arguably well within our present-day reach. Also some thought-provoking ideas about growing old in a hyper-technological world.

If no movie studio will allow Guillermo Del Toro to do At The Mountains of Madness,
then IMO, any streaming platform should just pick it up and let GDT do it the way he wants.

Netflix should make more of the documentary series called Our Planet.

You can watch all the episodes for free on You-Tube.

I'd like to see a series based on The Drowned World by JG Ballard.

It happened in 1991 and was directed by David Cronenberg.

It bombed, but is now considered a cult classic.

Agent of the Imperium: A Story of the Traveller Universe
by Marc W. Miller

Jonathan Bland is a Decider, empowered by the Emperor himself to deal with the inevitable crises of empire.  In the service of the Empire, he has killed more people than anyone in the history of Humanity, to save a hundred times as many.  He died centuries ago, but they re-activate his recorded personality whenever a new threat appears.  When the crisis is over, they expect he will meekly return to oblivion.

He has other ideas.

That would be great. Concrete Island or High-Rise could make engaging mini-series too.

An Initial D prequel focused entirely on Bunta's youth.

Initial D: Bunta Stage!

For some reason, I just noticed this.

Did you see the Chinese live-action version of Initial D? I couldn't help thinking they dishonored Bunta by portraying him as a drunkard. I couldn't help thinking this was informed by Chinese anti-Japanese stereotypes. Also they portrayed Itsuki as a clown. I don't think he is intended to be seen as a clown in the manga, it's a poor understanding of Japanese character presentation.

Caveat: I don't claim to be an expert on Manga or Japanese culture in general, but I think I can tell when something's off. I think there's a lot not being said in the manga, of which Japanese are aware and that makes it part of the story, but foreigners miss it. I do believe Japanese culture is a lot about what's not said but understood nonetheless, at least by the Japanese audience.
