but trying to keep my heating off due to cost

So sorry to hear. Do you use a heat pack or hot water bottle etc? There are so many people in the UK in the same position. I hope you can layer up as best you can, and get through the Winter ahead, as best you can.

I’m sorry you have to not have heat. Isn’t there some sort of subsidy for heat for people who have financial difficulties?

There are various super cheap insulation patents from the former Soviet Bloc.
First question: apartment block, terraced house or free-standing house?
Second: are there movements of cool air detectable near the windows and/or doors?

It might help to insulate your windows. Even heavy curtains might help.

I'm having to do the same. My floor feels like the inside of a freezer.

In case you're in need of some tips to keep warm I would say make sure you're eating enough and keeping your feet protected when moving around. Wear something that covers most of your body. I've been wrapping myself in my duvet when sitting down. That seems to work for me. I hope you find what works for you.
