This is a nice forum that I use In case anyone wants help to quit drinking or at least read the experiences of people similar to ourselves..
Yes, thanks for reminding me of that, I'm registered on there but haven't used it for years. Might start again..

I really identity with that. I've always felt uncomfortable in my own skin either with or without people. Always needed a crutch.. I wanted to get tested for ADHD but got rebuffed by doc..
I would try another doctor. You have to be persistant with ADHD. In the UK it's still quite difficult to get taken seriously. It took me years to get a diagnosis.

I got told 2 years as well but it only took 9 months. The meds didn't work as well as I'd hoped and they won't prescribe them now as my blood pressure is all over the place.

On the Guinness again today. Had 4 cans so far..

Is there an alternative to ritalin that doesn't involve a stimulant

I think it's unfair that people can't get access to proper medication and they end up self medicating

So far everything the https://www.haydockmc.com/adhd, Merseyside has prescribed me has been Ritalin based so raises blood pressure and pulse. My blood pressure is peaking at around 160/100 so they won't prescribe me stimulants any more. They didn't seem to be helping much anyway. I'd rather have untreated ADHD than a heart attack.

I mentioned to the NDIS therapist that I thought I had ADHD.
He said something to the gist of "cant be bothered", or the like.

My back's been painful today so I've had a few lots of painkillers.
Also 2 gin and tonics and a pint of Stella at spoons.

Gather you're in Australia (I Googled NDIS), didn't know they had spoons in Aussie. I would try and get a 2nd opinion on your ADHD.

Used to love Stella when I worked in electronics 30 years ago. Used to have a few cans on the train when it was British Rail. Can't stomach it now.

On my 6th can of Guinness now.

^ well done, you.

I've been in UK for last couple months, intrepid Aussie abroad. :D
Australia could never have a 'spoons, because as the saying goes, English and Australian pubs are about as similar as a daschund is to a cucumber, and it'd be ruined in no time, sadly.

Ritalin is usually what I take.

I find Adderall to be even more of a stimulant than Ritalin.

Kratom has been discussed as an alternative to Ritalin. I haven't tried it yet.

I find ~3-5 mg of THC most effective and least intrusive.

FWIW, I've obtained these substances legally in my area of residence. Having a Dr who is willing to work with you is helpful.

Had 1 can Guinness so far this weekend (1.42pm Sunday here now). Better. :)

Trying to get more exercise to get on top of my frustrated feelings. Got a head like a useless brick..
