Should I be disappointed that my gf makes fancy dinners?

I think it's really nice that ironpony actually wants to spend some time with her. The problem is the amount of time it takes and they aren't getting time together doing other activities.

Yes, that's precisely his dilemma.

Note: I don't think ironpony has reported yet if there might be a connection to the Pandemic.

I enjoy taking my bride out to reasonably nice restaurants and did so reasonably often before the Pandemic.

Now, except for a few errands, I want to stay home. When I am satisfied the Pandemic is less of a threat I will be delighted to go out again. (And we did so this past summer, during a local lull in the Pandemic.)

If ironpony's gf doesn't want to go anywhere because of the Pandemic, she's got my support. If the elaborate meal preparation is to relieve anxiety about the Pandemic (or any other hopefully temporary phenomena), I'd give her some slack on it.

Ah yes! that makes perfect sense. It also explains the "I don't want other's handling my food" concern. I think Ironpony's G/F sounds reasonable from that perspective.

Well done! we have potentially solved the dilemma.

@ Double retired, have you considered a career as a detective

Before I accept this award, I reiterate:

I don't think ironpony has reported yet if there might be a connection to the Pandemic.
At this point, for all we know she has always been like this. Or is taking a class and needs to practice doing different recipes. Or is hesitant to throw herself into ironpony's arms and is spending all that time in the kitchen to stall.

Heck. Maybe she really enjoys cooking!

Well just goes to show, human beings are complicated creatures. Let's wait for ironpony to confirm.

I'm curious now. What kind of recipes does she cook? Might give me some ideas.

I'm making celeriac and apple soup right now.

She makes a lot of Asian style dishes, but not sure what they are called exactly.

Does she make steam buns?

The point is, he wants to get out of the kitchen.
