Hi Velorum,

A lot to process but it was no surprise. I'm seeing it as a positive thing as I can now justify my weirdness ! !

How has it been for you ?

welcome! you are not alone. Diagnosed at age 68, 70 now, doing better than ever. Next to the birth of my 2 kids and my marriage, diagnosis made more impact on my life than anything else. Glad you are with us.

Thanks for your support folks, it is very much appreciated.

Just goes to show that age is no barrier to getting to know yourself better. For the first time in my life I don't feel like a freak! And it feels good to be amongst people who get it ! :D

I think besides the explanation to almost all of the "why" questions of my long and sordid past, learning that there were others like me, and who understood, was of the greatest benefit.

Forums and pages like these give us access to perspectives, experience, insights and ideas from others who have lived autistic lives.

We are not alone. I no longer feel isolated, I have many brothers and sisters, a huge family in autism. What a wonderful thing to discover. :)

Autisticelders I couldn't agree more and thank you for your insightful blog. It has really helped me to make sense of many of the difficulties I have in a very detailed way.

I'm only beginning to know myself at this ripe old age and it's scary, exciting, overwhelming at times... but mainly a huge relief !
