He also describes wokeism in particular as the "cocaine" of the people, rather than the opiate, because unlike Christianity in Marx's days, it does not put people in a plrasant stupor, but riles them up. Nonetheless, they both function as a diversion.

I like this analogy.
Wokeology is like cocaine & Christianity is an opiate. I'll take that and remember it.
I prefer the opioid way of living. It's less... painful.

Well, nobody's going to force you to take an interest in social justice if you don't want to.
As for religion being opium, I think the priest Charles Kingsley expressed it more clearly than Marx:
"We have used the Bible as if it were a mere special constable's hand book, an opium dose for keeping beasts of burden patient while they were being overloaded, a mere book to keep the poor in order"

I'm just a satanist, of the TST(the satanic temple) branch and our first tenent is
One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason. I think that is perhaps better than both of those because it doesn't really rile anyone up it just encourages one to look to their humanistic side more often. And I think the 'creatures' is intentional since it means both with humans and animals...like just try and be a positive force in the world where you can.
But you don't need fear of gods or any of that nonsense to act reasonably, you can just act reasonably for the sake of it...for yourself even, as it does feel better if you try to interact more positively with the world around you.
