Hi,

I'm newly diagnosed as of a few days ago. In my 30s, so adult diagnosis.

I work in software and have a family, so on the surface, I'm well adjusted. I'm not. Every day is a struggle and I camouflage so much that I burn out on a regular 6 month cycle. I went out to seek a diagnosis because I pretend to be normal so much that I'm losing myself, I'd like to "come out". I won't, but having the option there is akin to hope.

xx
Ariane

Welcome Ariane I'm much older at 61 and only just diagnosed. I'm in the process of coming out of shadows and it's a huge relief with lots of other emotions thrown in for good measure .

You are right about losing yourself behind the mask... be gentle with yourself. X

Welcome to WP!

I was twice your age when I was diagnosed. And I was delighted by the diagnosis—not because of what it could tell others about me but rather because of what it told me. So many things made sense, and it was a great relief to finally have that understanding.

I was diagnosed shortly before the Pandemic so I've not had much opportunity to share my diagnosis with others. I did share it with my family and they were mostly interested on what it might mean about them. With or without the diagnosis they already thought I was...um...quirky. Yeah. Let's go with "quirky". That's probably one of the more polite options.

welcome Arianekh to Wrong Planet . Hope you find some good associations with people here
there seems to be a number of people coming on here, more recently that have been diagnosed later in life .
