Can drug use cause an early death for somebody even if they stopped using drugs for years? Bob Saget just passed away and I learned that he was addicted to drugs and alcohol but has been clean for years. No cause of death has been determined. Police said that they don't suspect foul play or drugs in Bob Saget's death. Bob Saget seemed to be a healthy 65 year old and died on tour doing stand-up comedy shows. He looked much younger than 65 so it doesn't make any sense how he suddenly passed away while on tour in Florida. I don't know whether or not he has been using drugs recently, but could his past drug use have contributed to his death?

Of course, everything like that takes a toll on your body and weakens it, which can mean that you'll die earlier than you would've otherwise.

Yes. Heavy cocaine use causes permanent heart damage. No one is surprised when a celebrity from the 80s dies in his 60s.
