That’s what someone told me and it’s pretty intriguing. And from Iron Maiden, I like:

“Children of the Damned”

and

“Run To The Hills” (which is a damn honest look at the terrible way we treated the Native American Indians)

———————————

Dear Fellow Music Lover,

I would be interested in your recommendations of Iron Maiden songs or heavy metal in general.

Thanks

I haven't listened to them in years but i like "fear of the dark" and "phantom of the opera" I am sure they have a lot of more famous songs.

Iron Maiden is the Iron Maiden of heavy metal.

Dunno about favorite, there are so many good ones...Piece of Mind, Powerslave, and Somewhere in Time are definitely my fav albums, I used to listen to them a lot in high school. I think if I had to narrow it down, I would still have like three or four songs from each of those albums.

This thread reminded me of the existence of one of the worst album covers ever:

Thank you for the album recommendations.

This is mostly early Maiden, right?

I love The Red and the Black.

Although honestly, if I was going to list all my favourites it would probably be at least half their entire discography. Maiden's awesome. Which reminds me, I haven't listened to their new album yet.

It's the first album with Bruce.
But I meant the song.

That album cover is so rubbish that when I bought Dance of Death on CD I turned the cover inside out so this was the cover instead

Sort of?
It's early Bruce Dickinson Maiden, but they had quite a few albums/EPs/lives/singles before he joined the band.

Oh, that's nice. I did something like that with the first Cars album, flipped the booklet over so that the cover that the band wanted was front.

Here's an early draft of the cover before it got butchered, it's not bad:

This one's fan-made, but it's pretty cool:

I still can't believe that. Why did they go with that?
That baby doesn't even look like it's sitting or standing on the dog. It's ankles are like, fused into its side and it bothers me more than it probably should.

Aardvarkgoodswimmer are you looking for suggestions of similar bands too?

I like how their songs tell stories about folk lore and historical events. Most stuff like that tends to be more mellow.

I like the music too, but I very much enjoy the epic journeys in the songs.

The only thing I can think of is Axel Rudi Pell.

I don't like all his stuff, but Into the Storm is an epic album. I love the whole thing.

I'm really bad at describing music. Here's a link.

Good art needs to be transgressive, but not all transgressive art is good? Maybe something like that! :P

Yes, I welcome suggestions of similar bands.

And thank you for the lead on Axel Rudi Pell. :D
