As someone born nine months after Valentine's day, I remain in favour of people celebrating it. Reproduction is very important to people, so it deserves a celebration, and February needs leavening. As usual, the merchants try to get a cut, but they can be successfully ignored. Personal effort gets premium recognition unless one's intended is shallow, in which case you dodge a bullet.

I'm a valentine's baby too, but that's worse. Here's the day you procreate is more intrusive than here's the day you buy flowers and go for dinner.

personal effort, repeatedly, did zip for me. too many variables out of my control.

My NT lady and I aren't so sure, which is why I picked the "not sure" option.

However, I believe that V-Day is just another day for capitalists to make a big profit.

Well...my mom doesn't like her because she has blonde hair
and my mom still believes in the "dumb blonde" stereotype. :x

Returning to topic, a reason why V-Day is an awful day is
because capitalists see it as a day to take advantage of naive people
who always look for the best things to buy.

the worst part about it is how it makes the un-elect feel.

I agree.

If I was still single, I would certainly join singles with the support line created by anyone:

"We must stop this Valentine's Day from happening! But in what ways possible?"

I must be enjoying one of the many benefits of tuning out all advertising automatically. I'm no more aware of Valentine's day than I am of Holi or Ramadan.

I've never had a partner, but I think that we should keep Valentine's Day.

Humour on

I will walk into the restaurant carrying my violin case and proudly ask for a table for one....

I'm fine with it, it's never been a big deal in any of my relationships, or much of a drag when I'm not in one, but I also don't watch TV or anything, so I don't get exposed to the adds.

As a longtime line cook, chef, and restaurant owner, I would like to suggest not going out to a restaurant for Valentine's Day, as you're likely to get stuck with a low effort over priced prix fixe menu, rushed food and service, plus huge crowds, so just generally not a fun time. Cooking at home is the better option, maybe followed by some late evening cocktails if you must go out, bars usually don't pull the same shenanigans with the fixed menus and such.
