people that try to compete with others about everything, falsely believing that they are superior

when record companies withhold the stereo edition of a music recording in favor of the monophonic. that happens a LOT. bill inglot is one of the worst offenders in this regard.

When people have to know exactly every tiny precise detail of something in a conversation when all you want is for them to get to the point.

For example (just making up street names here):-
A: About 10 years ago I witnessed a massive traffic accident down Abbott Road
B: Oh that's bad. Where abouts down Abbott Road?
A: You know as you first turn into Abbott Road
B: Oh I know, going which way?
A: As you're coming out of Lexington Drive, near where the corner shop is
B: Hold on...I'm confused
A: You know, the park is this side, on the right, and the corner shop is on the left. It used to be a butcher's
B: Oh I think I know. Near Gatefield Farm?
A: Yes, well, about 300 yards away
B: Oh, so you were going towards Market Street, from Lexington Drive? Down that road?

Aaahh!! ! Why do people need to know the very precise location? And how do they memorize all these different street names and know how far 300 yards is?

I suck at geography. And math. And patience.

People who insist on sneaking up on me and then complain that I'm too easy to scare. I have a co-worker who does this regularly. "Ugh, it's too easy to scare you, it ruins the fun". Then why don't you stop? I don't enjoy it. Now I feel on edge.

When you buy stuff online and they don't tell you who the shipping company will be, or if you're going to have to sign for the package. The regular postman will just leave it at the door, usually knocking just to alert me but then walking away. Other companies need you to sign and if you miss them, you have to drive about five minutes away and wait at the post office. The worst companies make you sign, and if you aren't home their depot is about 40 minutes away in a very busy industrial area.

When I order anything that isn't Amazon, I'm rolling the dice on which one I'll get.

^ Exactly. It's actually a cause of anxiety for me when I do online shopping. As a non-driver, I hate having to spend half a day just to go to the depot in the industrial area to collect my order by public transport.

My pet peeve: those foreign call center workers that have such a strong accent that I cannot understand what they say, and then get offended when I ask them to repeat many times. Those companies should conduct some kind of "speaking test" before hiring anyone, whether local or foreign.

When people don't understand your OP properly even though you've written it clear and articulately enough.

When people write a massive long post that takes like 10 scrolls down to get past it...and then someone quotes the whole post!

When people think I'll really love a food I totally hate just because they cooked it a certain way.

Me: I hate salmon. It doesn't matter how it's cooked or prepared, I always hate it.

Cook: You'll Love MY salmon, because I've taken the freshest salmon and cooked it with all kinds of herbs and spices that makes it delicious.

Me: *Tastes salmon, spits it out into a napkin* I hate it.

Cook: HOW DARE YOU!!
