I hadn't heard of this "pick up line" concept before seeing this thread. I am surprised that things like that actually work. I thought getting relationships was more about being attractive and having lots of money.

I think that people using "pick up lines" generally have more deplorable intentions than you assume.

well, we DO assume a smooth line actually displays rather than conceals an attempt to seduce
and then toss away like so much kleenex. . .

that is usually why they don't work. . .men mostly wanted me to have a life running along side of theirs. . .
for a while

I wonder if DataSage is really the God's gift to women he says he is? I find it somewhat unlikely, given the kind of statements he's been making (unless they are a joke - I think they are too over-the-top to be anything but).

Okay, ...again

Here's another that isn't complicated; I'd say it's as polite as any that could be used. I said this to one as we were parting after a nice chat session at a party:

"I really like your company. Can we get in touch again some time?" [He passes her his personal info]

I've found that threats seem to draw
MORE interest. For example, when dancing
with someone (going a bit too far perhaps),
she leaned back to me, and rubbed against
whilst showing me her neck. I told her "Don't
tempt me," with clear warning in my voice,
and she tried pushing it further.

Not enough to stick around until I was done
dancing though.

Had someone try to start a conversation with
me by calling me a birdbrain today.

I have a hat with feathers sticking all
out of it. I actually suspect 'twas one
of the things that I've danced with, but
I was too stressed to stop and play.

You chirped not? How disappointing.

I told her that I've always been this way.

I did think that I should have chirped,
but not until MUCH later. Stopping and
chatting was an option which crossed my
mind moments after I could have pulled
it off gracefully.

Argh... yes t'has happened to me too. It makes me think of a drop of water coming out of a tap. It takes a certain specific amount of time to form. When the surface tension breaks the drop falls never to be seen again. Catch it or not.

best pick-up line I EVER heard, and I'm old, i'v heard a lot of them. Always gets a laugh and that's always a big plus . O.K. heres what you do...lick the tip of your finger and touch( lightly of course) the other persons CLOTHING (upper arm is always a good spot) and then say "I think you need to get out of those wet things" The sexier the voice the better. good luck it's worked for lots of my friends I'v told about it. (Not only for ...you know..but also mostly as an ice-breaker)let me know if you use it and the reactions you get o.k. good luck :D

The best pick up lines are honest, direct, and friendly. Make sure you're smiling!
"Hi, I have to tell you you're very attractive....
Do you live here?....
Are you single?...
Well, I'm a bit shy, but I'd love to talk to you some more, can I get your e-mail?
Thanks, I'll talk to you soon, have a great time with your friends!"
