Idk I did get to know my boyfriend a little bit from messeging on a dating site, and then moving to giving my number so we were texting. But I did want to meet up sooner than later which we did and it certainly worked out. So I can see the wanting to get to know them a bit before going on the date...but long term long distance I think would be difficult, like how do you know its real if you never met the guy in person?

Skype and the like would help, as someone mentioned.

It would have been lovely had I dated a woman with the name of Chloe. Most of the women I dated had "normal" names---like Jessica, Pamela, Theodora, Angela. Never had a Chloe or a Phoebe or a Gemma.

I've always liked these classical sorts of names.......

Theodora is unusual, at least in the UK. All the other names you list are incredibly common here. Interestingly, chloe and Gemma are particularly common amongst nurses in my experience!

Still on the lookout for a girl called Derek.

I suddenly started thinking of the song, Mambo No. 5 :shaking2:
I like Angela, Pamela, Sandra and Rita

If you're both ok with it and don't miss the physical affection and presence too much, then why not.

Its kind of generational how many of us become obsessed with certain pin-up girls in the pre-internet era isn't it.

In my early teenage years it was Lindsay Wagner for me (she was my idea of a perfect woman) followed perhaps by Pam Dawber.

In my early 20s it was probably some sports illustrated model
