But just over a month ago you've made this thread:
I'm Thinking Of Leaving This Site

Doesn't the desire to be a moderator conflict with the feeling of not belonging?

I'm just asking.

Maybe...but I do belong in some way, otherwise I wouldn't have stuck around for 12 years. I mean, 12 years is a long time to remain a frequent poster for.
But I sometimes feel I don't belong intelligence-wise, like I seem clueless on politics and history, or at least the details about it, and I've often been lectured because of it.

But it seems to be quite natural here for people to feel the urge to bid the site farewell after "failing miserably" in a political argument in PPR, only meaning it at the time but not actually following through.

If something doesn't really interest you it makes sense that you'll know less about it.

I'm starting to get used to that now, although it did wake me up in the wee hours, at first I thought it was a cat meowing loudly then I realised it was just the brat upstairs.

You don't need to be a mod Joe. You're a valued member of the site anyway.

I don't think the mods like me very much at the moment though. :o

Why would the Mods not like you?

Because I keep getting told off by the mods for writing inappropriate things in my posts.

There's a huge difference between addressing minor rules transgressions and dislike - the former in no way implies the latter.

I know, but what I said might have made the mods dislike me, thinking I'm a bad person.

Well that's OK then.

But lately I keep unintentionally offending people here, or I get that feeling judging by some people's responses.

Sometimes, you express your worries in rather extreme words. People get upset and sensitive about that because they don't want to think that extremely. They are trying not to think that extremely. They want distraction, rather than somebody being "up front" about what "potentially could happen."

During the Great Depression, very few movies were made about what was going on during the Great Depression. People wanted to see musicals, not documentaries. They wanted to escape their sorrow.

I understand you go through sorrows, and it helps you when you are able to "let it all out."
