IMO, it was a satire to some degree.
But it was also "Artistic Expression".

How is satire news?

I believe it was a recent artistic event.

I think there are structural reasons for rockets to be the shape they are. They can't crumble during launch and I think that is why they are the shape they are...it is the cheapest way to keep them rigid.

On the other hand, the proposed new shape would probably be great for space stations. I'm sure the rockets would love to dock with them.

And there are structural reasons for penises to be the shape they are.
Seriously.

Quote:
In human males, the shape of the penis--particularly the umbrella-like 'lip' under the tumescent glans head (the coronal ridge) was sculpted by natural selection to retract the semen of any other males who may have had sex with that woman within the previous 48 hours, since this is the approximate length of time that ...29 June 2012

I studied computers, not biology, but I suspect that if the goal is to to get a DNA sample delivered to an interior destination then some conceptually similar shape would seem useful. Conceptually similar to pushing a rocket through the atmosphere without creating resistance.

But I'll trust that evolution, natural selection, and Mother Nature have their reasons...which, I know, could be "Oh! Look what happened!"

it becomes news when a critical mass of people misconstrue it as reality and take umbrage such as when jonathan swift wrote about the irish doing you know what.

The feminist was making a point.
How is this not reality?
Interested.

But the aliens themselves fly spacecraft that are either saucer shaped, or shaped like tic-tacs. Not phallic shaped. Though exactly vaginal shaped either.

They must be more advanced than us. For us it works best to start with a cylindrical shaft standing erect on a launch pad and with the payload at the top and the thrust at the bottom.

Maybe Aliens have saucer-shaped genitals?

The news story appears to be based on an actual change.org petition. It's not immediately clear whether the petition is intended to serious or in jest.

However, "WBF Aeronautics" does not seem to have a website of its own, although it does have YouTube channel.

That being the case, I think it's most likely that the petition is a hoax.
