I don't know what this "market economics" thing is some of you are mentioning. A US thing probably, unless you mean marketing and economics.

I studied economics at a top university. My cohort did the following after:

Academia
Investment banking
Management consultancy (BCG, Bain, McKinsey)
Professional economist - government civil service or economic regulator or international organisation like the IMF
Professional economist - economics consultancy
Industry - finance dept or strategy dept

All are very good and interesting jobs. No-one went into sales.

Architecture is not even on those lists. That feeling you get when the rest of the world writes you off as a niche.

I wish more people majored in the STEM fields such as engineering.
I chose electrical engineering (sophomore --> junior) as my academic major because of the flexibility in career options and the high salary potential relative to other jobs.
A Pro about having a dearth of STEM majors is that it is much easier for people with STEM majors to find jobs with high salary potential.
In countries such as India, a disproportionate number of people major in engineering and the STEM fields, so the job market is much more competitive.

What can I say?
I am grateful that the probability that I can have a high-paying job is higher than if I lived in India. Let's be positive here.

In the next 20 years university is only one path to the professional job market. Working with big data or tech doesn't require 3-4 years of college/university. It requires aptitude and a mindset to pick up appropriate skills. IT and engineering companies realise they don't need to pay highly qualified graduates with zero experience when its easier and cheaper to train a school leaver yourself.

Oh, social work is such an important profession in today's realities. And it's so a pity that it's not popular at all. My sister is a Bachelor's in SW, and during her studies, I had a chance to listen to some online lectures, seminars, etc. And can say that everything was so interesting for me, and the specialist can work with any person

A pity, perhaps; but an understandable one since social workers appear to be potentially more "burned out" and have less feelings of personal accomplishment than other human service workers.

I am a social work major. I never had any interest nor knack for STEM fields. Social work is right up my alley because I've always had a social justice-oriented mindset as well as a drive to help people and society.

I'm a communications major. I considered the medical field and STEM fields, but I had really bad experiences with math and science classes.
