My brother and my aunt were just over to tell me. After 17 days in the hospital, my father died. He was 71. He had a very severe gallbladder infection and there was nothing more that could be done.

My mother says the main thing is that he's not suffering anymore. But the rest of us will continue to suffer until the next person dies. And then the next, and then the next... and we very likely won't be as lucky to die as peacefully as my father did.

I'm sorry to read this, lostonearth35. My dad died around this time 2 years ago. It can be excruciating.

The death of a loved one can be hard to understand - there are a lot of emotions and thoughts.
My mom died about 10 years ago and I am still processing it.
In one way - we all die and dying is part of living - in another way the first death of someone close enough to really impact us can cause us to question everything - it is a common tragedy but it is not common when it happens to you.
The way you feel about it - your pain and your sadness - is as unique are you are.
I am sorry for your pain.
I wish I could help.

I'm so sorry :( My father died 2015 and I still think of him and wish could talk to him. Grief is very painful. I'm thinking of you.

I am sorry for your grief and loss...
At least he is not in pain, and he knew that he was loved.

My condolences.

I lost my father the day after I turned 12. He was 43.
