Ukrainian intelligence reveals plot to depose Vladimir Putin

Unfortunately wars still happen. But unlike with Hitler, most of the world immediately turned against Putin, by funding Ukraine and cutting off Russia as a first step. I realize I'm giving what might be an overly optimistic appraisal of the situation.

How likely do you think it is that any such plot will succeed at any time in the near future?

Local commenters don't have much hope. He's extremely caucious, experienced with assassination techniques, and he's reducing people in contact with him even further. On the other side, he has very strong base of hardcore supporters.

Maybe if he loses the war... in such case, his hardcore support group would melt as they would stop seeing him as strong and imperial. But that would require losing the war first, so it's not a way to cut the war short.

Another gossip is that he might have cancer and soon die of natural causes. In such case, it's unpredicatble what comes next. The KGB/FSB circles are likely to try to hold power. They can steer further towards totalitarian imperialism or towards relative calming down and opening. Hard to predict. Probably some hybrid mix, a bit similar to Chinese approach, so the power over the population is near absolute but the money flows.
In such case, another attack in a decade or two would be very likely.

Last video with Shoigu spawned a lot of such comments.

Yeah.

There are rumors that he has Parkinson's.

And there are rumors that he has cancer.

Rumors that "doctors have visited him".

Might explain this seemingly rash move ...of starting this insane war. That he knows his time is almost up to achieve whatever the phuck it is that he is trying to accomplish (dreams of reabsorbing Ukraine into Russia, or recreating the Soviet/Czarist Empire, just pushing back western influence, or whatever).

Or maybe those medical things are all just rumors.
