It looked like a legitimate pop, but I am still suspicious.

Meh who hasn't wanted to smack Chris Rock? After all, "everybody hates Chris" hee hee.

On a serious note, I wondered if Jada Pinkett Smith's close cropped hair was the result of illness, like cancer.

Turns out nothing that serious, but she does have a hair loss condition called alopecia. So that certainly explains her's and then Will Smith's reaction.

I'm guessing Chris Rock didn't know, and might end up apologizing. Smith already apologized when he received his award.

She has alopecia. An auto immune disease that causes you to loose hair.
===================================

The actual joke was that she should reprise Demi Moore's role in "Gi Jane" in which Demi famously shaved her head to get through basic training to join special forces. Being compared to Demi Moore doesnt seem like a bad thing to me. But I suppose that Will Smith didnt like any attention (good or bad) drawn to his wife's condition. Whatever.

Intentional or not, it amounted to making fun of her condition.

Chris Rock can press charges for assault. But not sure he will.

Cops don't really need evidence do they. Just switch on the TV.

Chris Rock Revealed He Has the Learning Disorder NVLD—Here's What That Is.

NVLD shares some symptoms with autism and Asperger's, but it's a different disorder, according to experts.

I have always liked Will Smith. But after seeing this, if he can't take a joke, screw him.

I guess that it was...just one too many...jokes for him to take!

Will Smith said "you have to take" that kinda stuff in his business, and "pretend that its ok".
While he teared up while apologizing...to everyone...except to Chris Rock.

When I pointed out that Will Smith's wife is losing her hair because of a disease she has, I figured that would explain way he got so upset. But apparently that's not registering.

Which is strange coming from a group that's usually bothered when a disease or disorder is made fun of.

Chris Rock probably knows what he did was wrong. He's not pressing charges against Smith.

Will was laughing at first. Then Jada gets all upset. It's like he changes then, goes from laughing to, super emotional. Mirrors her, but then goes over the top. I'm wondering if him and Chris staged it, on some Andy Kaufman level style comedy. :chin:

He "made fun" of her by comparing her to a movie sex symbol -who managed to appeal to both feminist (for being a powerful woman), and to male chauvinists (for being a hottie) in the same role. Where do EYE sign up to be insulted like THAT? It could be argued that it was a left handed compliment.
