The fact that others do it too does not make it any healthier.
So called incels have their roots exactly in this culture - with all the disastrous results of this belief system.

"meet" or "meat"? :P

But seriously: Is it a marketplace as a local center of social life or is it a marketplace where you treat yourself and others as commodities?

incels? are you suggesting anyone who says they had a difficult time getting a date is associated with incel culture? That's pretty harsh don't you think?

In any case I have the solution, go overseas and find a good wife

No, I'm suggesting that those who treat themselves and others as commodities are associated with incel culture.

Did you read the article? the dating pool has become a commodity. Even for women. I am (and most people) are firmly against incel culture.

The first sentence in this article:
Quote:
The old but newly popular notion that one’s love life can be analyzed like an economy is flawed—and it’s ruining romance.
Have you read it?

Yeah that's what the author says and he's right. But he also acknowledges the commodification of the dating market is real. Ever heard of tinder?

Real but very unhealthy. Racism is also real :P

The local opinion about tinder is that it's good only for one-night-stands.
I have also heard about red light districts and swingers' parties. Never had any business in attending any, though. Somehow, I never expected them to be good places to look for potential life partners.

There are some unhealthy trends in the west. Marriage is at an all time low.

Combination of factors, online hookup culture makes it easier to get sex without trying/putting in the effort of a long term relationship (men are partly to blame here). Also women are becoming more choosy.

Not starting a family has become a widely accepted and attractive way of living.
Unmarried families have also become socially accepted.

If I get married it will affect my SSI which me and my boyfriend still need me to get to help cover bills. So basically we can't afford to do that.

But if that changes we might go sign a marrige certificate or whatever you do when you don't want to have a wedding ceremony as neither of us are interested in that.

So yeah basically if you are on SSI you'll be financially penalized for getting married that is why a lot of disable people don't want to get married.

Marriage is the single most common cause of divorce.
