True, but you did hear the sound of a man shouting as if in sudden pain -- a shout that would give away his position to the enemy.  What he demonstrated was like saying you could conceal the flare of a match lighting a cigarette by shining a flashlight at the enemy's face.

I think you'd be better off causing a loud noise near OPFOR because your shout and the velcro are in roughly the same location.

Near because the closer it is the louder it will be perceived.

Regarding the origional idea. There can be circumstances where it could work if the sound used is one which is expected in the circumstance.

Possibly, but you'd still be better off not having the sound come from your own location.

It's not like faking a cough in hopes no one will hear your fart, the concern is drawing attention to your location. An expected sound might be more likely to go unnoticed, but ideally anything that draws attention away is preferable to anything that draws attention towards your location.
