Back in college I confided to one of my college councillors that this girl who I had a crush on at the time was ignoring me. She then said “well she might not have those same feelings for you because she might fancy somebody else”. I then started talking to her about my looks being the problem and she said “well your not ugly then the councillor paused for a few seconds and said “your a nice looking young man”

Do you think she was lying to me about being nice looking?

Do you think she was lying?

I don't know how I'm supposed to answer this question because I don't know what you look like and I can't second guess what the intention or motivation of this person was.

Not knowing what you really look like makes it impossible to answer appropriately.

Anyone who expresses or implies otherwise is probably just trying to make you feel good.

In my experience, the vast majority of guys I've known who complain about their looks are decent-looking guys who struggle with dating for personality reasons rather than looks reasons.

This ↑ explains why some men who are neither incredibly good-looking nor incredibly wealthy still have girlfriends and wives.

You're probably okay-looking, James.

You just hang out in the wrong places.

Good looks are never enough, even for desperate, horny men.

Yeah to be honest I am getting sick and tired of going to the bar but my parents insist I should go out twice a week to the pub.

Are you not old enough to tell them 'No'?

There are other venues to be "social" other than bars.

A "pub for working-class people" is just like a "bar" in the US. I have nothing against them, per se. I used to go to a "bar" to play pool.

But as a place to "meet girls," it's a poor place for us Aspie/Autistics.

Do you have trivia games there---where you can win money if you answer the questions correctly?

Do they have darts?

Then it seems like an "Irish Bar" in the NYC sense.

There's a TV in these sorts of places, there's barstools, there's a "bar" where you sit and have drinks. There might be booths where you can eat food. There's a jukebox, maybe a couple of video games. And probably a pool table.

The floor might be clear, or there might be sawdust on the floor.
