The answer is no. The Betty Crocker that you hear of in advertisements of food and recipes was never a real person, but a created character.

I once made up a joke where a teacher asks a kid in school who was famous for the quote "Let them eat cake" and the kid answers "Betty Crocker!"

But recently I've learned Marie Antoinette never actually said "Let them eat cake", so if I ever drew and posted a comic strip with that joke, about a million people would post their negative opinions about my intelligence or education. Or at least they would if more than one or two people actually even read and cared about my comics.

As a kid I once read a really corny joke Duncan Hines whose name also appears on many packaged dessert, mixes and actually was areal guy:

"Do you like Duncan Hines?"
"I don't know I've never dunked any."

I suppose that means Mr. Clean, the Jolly Green Giant and the Tidy Bowl Man ain't real either. Reality is crumbling away...

^I don't really care about them. I don't know, maybe I just like tigers because they're big cats, and I love cats? :cat:

While we're talking fictional food characters, some Jolly Green Giant trivia:

In some TV ads of the black and white TV era there were models built by a fellow named Richard Datin & at least once his hand appeared as the Green Giant's hand placing vegetables in the modeled equipment.

Datin went on to be the model maker in charge of building the original 3ft and 11ft long models of Enterprise for the original Star Trek.

He also built model props for Petticoat Junction.

He was also a founding curator if the Nevada State Railroad Museum.

Betty Crocker should have a mascot named Betty Crocodile, a cartoon alligator-like reptile dressed in a baker's hat and an apron. :D
