I have been following this story, I kinda figured she broke him out because they had something romantic going on, and turns out that seems to be the case. Her co-workers did not want to jump to the conclusion she aided him, but evidence has been found that it's likely.

Whether she is still a willing participant in his escape or not, is hard to say. I just feel bad for his ex who is now fearing for her life because she's worried he might track her down and make good on his promise to kill her. At least according to some article I saw about it.
