My Cat hit me one day, but mostly she'll just put her paw out at me.

I noticed some of them got annoyed if I stroked their body, but stroking their head is OK. Getting in their face too much annoyed them, then they hiss and scratch.

My friend's cat saw me through the window, then came in the house climbed on my lap and headbutted me as a hint he/she wants to be stroked. I want to go back....

Our cat plays sometimes by batting as us as we pass by. Usually it's just a paw but sometimes her claws are out. We can kinda tell when she's in that mood if we see her & are paying enough attention & then we can kinda avoid her. Playing with her more would help but she mostly wants to play at inconvenient times. Cats can also be sensitive to various environmental factors that can cause them to become aggressive. For example she tends to get in the way when we're doing stuff & occasionally if we're moving a bit of stuff, she'll put herself in the middle of it long enough that she becomes overstimulated & then attacks. Sometimes it's a good idea for us to pick her up in a room or have a spray-bottle ready. My girlfriend had a cat when she was a teen & young adult who was sensitive to the sound of her whistling. When Cass would whistle a bit, the cat would slowly come over & then swipe with claws out & force. Cass learned to whistle to get her cat to come over & the stop when she got close.
