What is the difference between Autism Spectrum Disorder and Stereotypic Movement Disorder?

My symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder looks like mixture of mild Social (Pragmatic) Communication Disorder and mild Stereotypic Movement Disorder combined.

Stereotypic Movement Disorder (not an official diagnosis) is a component of many people with autism. I don't believe it is even a disorder on its own----rather, it's a symptom.

The only people who might have SMP are people with Tourette's Syndrome, people who have Tardive Dyskinesia, and people with relatively marked autism.

The separated diagnosis of Stereotypic Movement Disorder is in DSM-5. I am sorry, I had to correct you.

All right. I stand corrected.

But these sorts of "movements" are usually accompanied by autism, or by Tourette's, or by Tardive Dyskinesia.

That makes sense.
