Fictional characters are child free but some have children of their own. Why is that?

It all depends on what the author has planned for the plot.

Also, writing for one character is easier than writing for a family of characters.

What about them?

If you want details about specific characters, then you should contact the people who publish those characters.

Comic book superheroes (whether on the page, or the big screen) are for a certain audience. Pre teens, and teens. So making them married, and parents, who hafta change diapers just wouldnt work for the target audience.

People doing next generation fanfics for future children of fictional characters that would never come. Why is that?

How can fictional characters be child free if some have children? Some don't have children and some don't. They're fictional, that means they aren't real. It's *usually* the writer's decision whether they should have kids or not.

Of course, if the fictional characters themselves are children, as in not teens or adults, it would make sense that they wouldn't have children of their own.

Many comic strips and cartoons are about a family with kids, because families with kids have been a longtime source of humor and sometimes drama.
