On the dating show 'Take me out' the host Paddy Mcguiness who is 6ft 1/2 himself was going on about his height and one of the ladies said to him "No your to short I want a guy who is 6ft5".

Do you think that was incredibly shallow of the woman to say that?

It is incredibly shallow for ANYONE to be fixated solely on appearances.

Arguably 6ft1 is a more attractive height for a guy than 6ft5.

For a sample size of ONE.

Are you shallow, Jamesy?

You're also preoccupied with judging people by height.
You even judge yourself by your height.

Perhaps it's an interest for her, just like it is for you.

What would this woman like—once she dates this 6 foot 5 guy, then the guy dumps her for some stupid reason?

Maybe she was trying to be funny.

It should be noted that Take Me Out is a rather scripted show with multiple takes. We have no real way of knowing if such thoughts were genuine or if she was just advised to act this way because the showrunners thought it would be amusing for one of the attendees to turn down the host. Reality TV is rarely real.

How is that any shallower than a man saying he won't date a woman over 5'5"? Or over a size 14? Or who has a child? People have preferences, & that's ok. Do you really think everyone should accept everyone unconditionally? That's just not realistic.

Whether it was shallow or not depends on her reasons for having that desire/preference & for saying that.
That information is not provided here.

Not at all. The people there seem very "NT."

I go to this site sometimes. I'm self-conscious about my 164 cm height (5 feet 4.75 inches)

I think some people are fixated by height and agree it is shallow to focus on things like that. However, it is fair to say she could simply be noising Paddy up because it is well known that some people are conscious of their height (and thats on both sides, tall and small) so could simply make for good tv viewing.
