Anyone know of any rock stars that have Asperger's ?

i dont think there are anymore, but even they have some social deficit in their own way.

beck is probably an aspie (as discussed many times on this board), but belongs to a religion that doesn't beleive in psychology so he would never be diagnosed as such.

I wouldn't think that rock music would be congenial for aspies musicians and fans, not music wise, but socially. It's a largely communal experience with the dancing and the drinking and drugs and such. Large groups of people gathered together in small spaces with loud noises, bumping, shoving, yelling, touching...

going to concerts where everyone is socializing and no one is paying attention to the music bothers me.


but being on stage at these events... is the biggest rush i've ever experianced. for the duration of the concert, i am in front of hundreds of people who care about me and what i'm doing- and i don't have to talk to them or pretend to care about them! bliss.

I would have thought that some aspies would naturally have the x factor
well at least in terms of the old definition of rock star

todays generation of rockstars apart from one or two are really
boring due to the politics, press and the police

i also guess so many world first have happened already
so there isn't that much left in terms of good old fashion rockstardom

i mean some of the more volatile genres are now breeding pseudo gangster violence
such as random knife attacks, which i guess in their own minds is the new way to break boundaries
but shame that kids are resorting to doing such horrible things now

rather than just getting off by experimenting or trying to do something groundbreaking
that takes real work and real character, such as learning to play an instrument well
or really learning to sing

as it happens, a lot of people with ASD apparently have natural pitch (so can sing in key naturally)
but are not so good with motor skills (generally speaking) which means there less likely to be able to
play the guitar or play the piano well, or do both (singing and guitar) together.

Perhaps that is why there are few true ASD rockstars

Quiet Riot’s current frontman, James Durbin, is on the spectrum. He’s got some solo stuff too that’s pretty good.
