Intelligence experts have warned transnational crime is becoming “more complex than ever” as nations like Russia turn towards the cyberspace to facilitate organised crime in Western countries.

In a world exclusive, members of the Five Eyes Law Enforcement Group (FELEG), sat down with Sky News Australia to discuss the shared challenges of combatting transnational crime.

Deputy Director of the FBI Paul Abbate said countries like Russia, China and Iran, were no longer just providing safe havens for criminals but were facilitating them.

“Russia, China and Iran - it’s not just a matter of providing safe haven to criminals and getting in the way of the justice that we are seeking through our criminal laws within our countries, it goes beyond that,” Mr Abbate said.
