One time a couple years ago I packed a change of clothes with me and paid a premium for entry to a downtown YMCA just to take a shower after work before heading out for dinner. It's cheaper at community centres, but for the convenience of the location I paid twice as much to shower there in order to save the time driving home and back downtown.

Now I regularly keep at least a change of clothes of some sort in my car due to doing dusty work. I also often have a gym bag with me with some clothes etc in case I go for a session with my trainer.

Today I'm planning on meeting up with a friend after work, so taking a change of clothes with me and then depending on location/distances, I might hit up a community centre (swimming pool) for a shower after work rather than drive home first.. not because I'm super short on time, but more so because even in my little car it costs $20 round trip to drive into town and back. Way cheaper to pay $6-10 or whatever the drop-in price is at a community centre pool than it is to pay for gas to drive home and back.

Anyone else figuring out where they can shower up vs. pay for gas to zip home? I think this is going to become more and more common. Probably should be a "shower locator," app available if there isn't one already. I know a lot of people that live in vehicles full time and use pool showers to clean up. (because rent is astronomically expensive, so there are a lot of van and RV dwellers with full time decent paying jobs - like people earning $80k/year living in a van.)

I joined one of those cheap 24 hour gyms for that, worked a treat.
Also it can be difficult to find toilets in the UK, so it helped for that. Also a place to recharge phones, get out of the sun.

Years ago when I was staying at a cabin with no running water we used the shower at the state park campground.
It was free access back then, not sure now.

Public pool?
$3.50 for hot shower, swim in heated pool, then another shower.

Many truck stop gas stations (in the usa) have pay-to-use showers available. Googling shows around $15 for 45 mins.

I dunno the prices these days exactly but it’s probably 2-3 times that.

YMCA downtown was something like $14 for a drop in fee.

Today I managed to shower at the condo I was helping renovate.

You could buy a sun shower like campers use.
