Yes, my long history of people pleasing has caused me much grief. I have found the need to distance myself from various people over the years.

I am a recluse but if I have to see people outside for some reason, I often notice how bad they are respecting my personal space, actually. And often I allow them to do so, but I am learning to say "no", more often.

The worst ones (pre pandemic) are male acquaintances who try to kiss me at some social event.

I was at a garden party for all the people who lived in my block of flats currently and in the past, and when one of the men was leaving, he tried to kiss me goodbye. I stepped back from him and held out my hand for a handshake and said, 'great to see you again.'

He huffed and acted like it was ME who was being unreasonable.

I don't want unfamiliar men kissing me, thanks!!

At least the pandemic stopped all that sort of thing!
