Many foreign artists have been "obsessed with the mess that is America".

Are there any songs about the US that are full of gunfire and people screaming in terror?

How about "American Woman" by the Guess Who? Which is actually a Canadian band?

I have a couple of examples in my OP
Jimmy Hendrix’s cover of ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ at times imitates machine gun fire, bombs, and ‘Taps’.

San Francisco Punk group ‘The Avengers’ ‘The American in Me” contains these lyrics
Quote:
It's the American in me that makes me watch the blood running out of the bullethole in his head.
It's the American in me that makes me watch tv see on the news, listen what the man said.
He said, "ask not what you can do for your country what's your country been doing to you
Ask not what you can do for your country what's your country been doing to your mind?"
It's the American in me that makes me says it an honor to die in a war that's just a politicians lie It's the American in me that makes me watch tv see how they burn the sla they say
"Ask not what you can do for your country what's your country been doing to you?
Ask not what you can do for your country what's your country been doing to you?"
In the USA! in the USA in the USA!
It's the American in me that makes me watch the blood running out of the bullethole in his head.
It's the American in me that never wonders why Kennedy was murdered by the FBI (said) "ask not what You can do for your country what's your country been doing to you?
Ask not what you can do for your country what's your country been doing to you?...

Thats why they recorded the song. Its about Canadian resentment towards being dominated the US. Or something.

The rock original by Springsteen often gets mistaken for being a patriotic anthem (especially by politicians who stupidly use it as their campaign theme song). The fact that its actually a dark tale about the struggles of a blue collar Vietnam vet gets lost on many.

in 1980 Jazz bassist Stanley Clarke did a rap version of the song in which...all of the darkness 'shines' through.
