Patel?! (Lengthy session of whooping sounds.) Now can we deport her, please?

I see "the usual suspects" are out in full force, obediently pushing the approved message:

Surprisingly the Daily Mirror bucked the fawning trend:

Everyone- did you see that Johnson likened himself to the Roman senator Cincinnatus, who ruled then resigned, then was asked to come back to power and became a dictator. That is not an accidental reference is it...

Did lol. Cincinnatus is not usually referenced in such a way. The Cincinnatus myth and the part to aspire to is the first part - that he (modestly and without any unvirtuous aspirations) responds to a crisis, heeds the call of duty, takes on the burden of political and military power to save the state and his people, then quietly retires to his farm after saving the day - the model leader and the model citizen of the Roman Republic. Ridiculous for anyone to make that comparison with Johnson and Brexit, I know, but it doesn't mean "tehehehe prepare for my coming dictatorship"

Having read what historians have to say about this, I respectfully and completely disagree with you. Johnson knew what he was doing choosing Cincinnatus as a comparison to himself. His degree is in Classics and English.

Braverman replaces Patel. Mogg gets energy.

Most of this lot I can just roll my eyes at and accept they are a bunch of 2nd rate politicians who will last around 2 years and will mostly be forgotten about shortly afterwards, but Braverman as Home Secretary genuinely frightens me. She is like Patel on steroids. The damage she could (and likely will) do is untold.

Yes. Braverman has positioned herself to the right of Patel, it says everywhere 8O

And Coffey as Health Secretary carving up the NHS.

Mogg stopping all investment and research into green energy and environmental protection.

Happy days! NOT.

The Daily Mirror has been pretty anti-Tory for a while now. Not sure how it got away from the others!

Just watched Angela Rayner giving her speech at the Labour Party conference.

What a woman. She was fantastic.

For all those doubters who said the Labour Party can't come up with policy; well they have now.

Surely she will garner support from her pitch.

Ooh do you have a link for Angela Rayner/the conference?

I wonder if she should be the head of the Labour Party!

I can only hope. My worry is how badly this current lot will trash the country before they go.

Who would it be? What would they dredge up from the depths? Kwarteng and his Joker-like mannerisms?
