How do I get my short film to air on TV?

What kind of a "short film" is it, and on what topic? Does your film have a specific target audience?

Do you have an account with a large following on either YouTube or TikTok?

It’s experimental. It’s about space. The target audience is all ages. I do have an account on YouTube but have no following.

There's so many shorts on the internet, people won't just stumble across yours. TV stations that have a regular short film program are also rare, and they even rarer consider submissions.
The most "reliable" way to get some attention is to win some awards at festivals, at leadt they watch the submissions sent to them, so there's a chance of getting shown there. That's a first step towards getting it shown on tv.

Okay. Why are short film programs rare on TV?

Probably tv execs assume there won't be enough people watching, or people won't feel the need to watch every installment, like with an episodic storyline, which means it's not a consistent audience and therefore it's hard to neatly categorize it for their customers (the advertisers). With advertisers unsure whether they even reach their target demographic, they're less likely to pay for it. So in conclusion: it's not making tv stations enough money.

What if they did a triple feature along with an older film and an indie film?
