Today (2022-07-22) would have been Alex Trebek's 82nd birthday.  He died in November 2020 after his open and public battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Excerpt from
 This ABC7 Article

For nearly four decades, with style and a sense of humor, he was the man with all the answers who asked for questions and earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for most game show episodes hosted by the same person.

He was a master of the format, engaging in friendly banter with contestants and appearing genuinely pleased when they answered correctly. He was also able to move the game along in a brisk no-nonsense fashion whenever people struggled for answers.

He has won seven Daytime Emmys for his work on the show and received a lifetime achievement Emmy award in 2011.

The final episode Trebek taped before his passing aired on Friday, Jan. 8, 2021. It had no final farewell, and no last remarks or special goodbye from the host who did not know he would die less than two weeks after recording his final episode.

Trebek signed off by saying, "Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for spending the time with us. We'll see you again next week."

While others have performed admirably well in his absence, they cannot possible replace him.

 We miss you, Alex!

I have no desire to watch Jeopardy with a different host. It would just be depressing.

It is kinda sad, but the hosts and contestants seem to always show respect for his memory.

Watching "Jeopardy!" is one of the few activities in which I can give the correct answer without receiving snark.

I like that.

Maybe I should give it a try.

I’ve never done that well with Jeopardy unless a few specific topics were featured.

It was still fun to watch, though.

I used to watch Jeopardy with Art Fleming as host. This is what I grew up with. I had to get used to Trebek on Jeopardy.

It's a darn shame that Trebek had to pass away from pancreatic cancer, though.

I remember when Trebek had rather long hair when he hosted "High Rollers."

Jeopardy is the sort of early evening show I used to watch before streaming changed how I watch TV.

I miss Jeopardy, but once they started using Mayim Bialik I stopped watching entirely.

Why for that reason?

Trebek's perfect replacement is obvious.

Does anybody remember when Bob Barker hosted Truth or Consequences?

I used to be really into game shows as a kid. The 60s were a great time for game shows. They got a little tacky at times in the 70s.

I never much cared for Alex Trebek, always found him stale and not in the least bit funny.

That aside, a belated happy birthday to Mr. Trebek.
