A decent relationship is a democracy; a hurtful/abusive one is a dictatorship (unless you’re into BDSM, I suppose).

The ideal relationship is a cooperative anarchy.

Democratic relationships work best when both parties learn to negotiate and compromise.

Dictatorships are toxic, whether in relationships or national rule.

When I met my current wife we decided that she would make all the small decisions and I would make all the big decisions.

8.5 years later and we still have never had a big decision to make.

Neither.

If it were a democracy, you could both vote for different things.

Relationships are about cooperation or compromise, which includes doing things you don't want to do.
