Going “woke” is not exactly it. She is not in favor of banning the song she told fans to stop whining about her not preforming the song and feel free to listen to it. This is unlike Elvis Costello who urged radio stations not to play “Oliver’s Army” and Lizzo who eliminated the word “spazz” from a song in reaction to protests.
Songs having new meanings in reaction to current events predates wokeism. 9/11 is a prime example.
We look at the songs deemed too “lyrically questionable” to play on the radio after the 9/11 attacks.

‘Hit Me Your Best Shot’ is on the list as well as Benatar’s ‘Love is a Battlefield’.
Other songs that had nothing to do with 9/11 became moving or anthemic. One famous example is Billy Joel’s Miami 2017(Seen the Lights Go Out On Broadway). For me personally the first song I thought of when it happened and still strongly evokes 9/11 is Siouxsie and the Banshees‘s ‘Cities in Dust’ written about the volcanic eruption that destroyed Pompeii.

God forbid that she should become sensitive.
But I think you all are accusing her of having more morality than she really has.
The song's lyrics never made any sense when sung in a woman's voice anyway, and she had already 'outgrown' the song even before the recent deluge of shootings. And that deluge of shootings just made belting out the chorus line with conviction hard. So she just couldnt do it anymore. You dont need to invoke 'pressure from social media' nor 'going woke'.
But hey...since you all think that its so tragic and awful...maybe we can FORCE her at gunpoint to sing it again!
Al Capone kidnapped Fats Waller (had guys tie him up and throw Waller into the trunk of a car)and force him to play at Capone's birthday party at a hotel in Chicago. So maybe Biden can do the same with Pat Benatar!

This is 2022 we are supposed be beyound binary gender roles.
It’s ok, I am not going to cancel you for it.
Like I said earlier, we interpret songs based on on past experiences and current prejudices. I interpreted as a feminist call to arms.(I hope she did not read the last part
