We need TWO new parties. Right centrist and left centrist. What exists now are far right and far left.

No. You have two economic far right partoes, one conservative, one liberal.

If you think the dems are far left, for the love of god, read a book.

Some of those might have "issues":

Good.  You checked my citations.  That is why I put them there.

What this all boils down to is that so-called "Moderate" or "Third" parties have been around for a long time, and that they do not seem to be as popular as the two main parties.

A better idea is to assert moderate ideas within a Democratic or Republican framework.

May as well insert hot Chinese mustard into a pair of jelly donuts.

It may be interesting in the short term, but you will lose a few friends really fast.

Back a couple of generations ago, we had many viewpoints within both the Democratic and the Republican parties. There were liberal Republicans, and conservative Democrats. And many ideas in between. Debate was vociferous----yet, it was respectful.

This "our way or the highway" thing of the present generation within both parties, to me, stymies progress.

EXTREME right, and extreme left, parties have also been around for a long time. But those arent as 'popular' as the two main parties either.

Its not 'debatable'. its a fact.

Right on the ballot you have the Green Party (left), and the Libertarian (a certain kind of far right). Socialist (far left). And parties that dont make in on the ballot. Communist, Nazi, and the "Rent is too High Party", and etc.

You left out the "Trump For Fuhrer" party and the "Pelosi Is God" party.  The extremists are constantly mutating and spawning new offspring, even when those offspring are not officially on any ballot.

During most of yours and my lifetimes it was the two mainstream parties that were...mainstream. Slightly right, and slightly left of center. The little splinter parties were for the extremists out in the far left and far right fringes.

But yes...the two main parties have moved away from the center somewhat. So in recent years you can be a 'radical' just by being a centrist.

So...I decided to become...a Gerald Ford terrorist! For the new fanatical extreme-middle-of-the-road! We call ourselves...The "White Stripers"! (after the painted lines in the middle of a road) because we are SO deep ...into the center!

So... The extreme middle of the road top income tax under Gerald Ford was 70%.
Where would a Gerald-Ford-extreme-middle-terrorist today position himself in relation to that?

The elephant in the room that nobody wants to talk about -- Lots of people will vote for Joe Biden strictly because his name isn't Donald Trump, and lots of people will vote for Donald Trump strictly because his name isn't Joe Biden.

Biden supporters support Biden because he is not Trump. That part is true.

But Trumpers support Trump because they think Trump is God (we all know that Elvis, Jesus, and both JFK, and JFK Jr. are going to return to Dealey Plaza in Dallas to usher in the new reign of Trump).

So its a contest between Trump hate vs Trump worship. Not between Trump hate and Biden hate.
