I was struck by a bit of Native American wisdom recently. They look at the huge variety of birds and other life, and conclude that we are put here to be strange and interesting.
I knew that I couldn't compete on speed with the specialists, so I focussed on "extra-odd jobs" that they didn't want anyway. The novelty wouldn't slow me down much, and it usually worked first time, saving the customer money.
