Biden to announce death of top Al Qaeda leader al-Zawahiri, sources say

Quote:
President Joe Biden is expected to announce Monday night that a U.S. counterterrorism operation over the weekend in Afghanistan killed top Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, two sources familiar with the matter told NBC News.

A senior administration official said there were no civilian casualties in the counterterrorism operation that killed al-Zawahiri, who succeeded Osama bin Laden as the head of Al Qaeda in 2011.

The Associated Press first reported that al-Zawahiri was killed in the operation.

Two people briefed on the matter said it was a CIA drone strike that killed al-Zawahiri.

Dang, taken out by Sleepy Joe, that's going to leave a mark on his reputation.

While I would rather have seen him stand trial, I shed no tears over his demise.

There are some people who aren't just bad or dangerous, but are actually evil. The late Egyptian doctor was one such truly evil person. Bin Laden was the face of 9/11, but Zawahiri was just as guilty as a prime mover behind the scenes in the mass murder back in 2001. I shed absolutely no tears for him.

Even Al Quaeda itself wouldnt expect any of us to shed a tear over him. They may believe in what he did, and they may now consider him to be a 'martyr', but its not like they are surprised that we would seek revenge on him.

By the way, here's a little partisan tidbit I found funny.

That Trump hadn't taken the initiative to kill Zawahiri just because he didn't recognize the guy's name is significant.

Trump was POTUS, and thus the most powerful person on earth.

He may well be POTUS again, given the rules.

And he was an unusual POTUS who garners unusual attention. Even Warren G. Harding, and even Nixon, never inspired a mob to lynch their VPs ( for starters).

So normal civic minded folks have no choice but to keep on discussing Trump.

You know all of the above.

So why do you talk AS IF we had the option to NOT talk about him? You know full well that silence about Trump is not an option.

It seems very few people of the TDS crowd in this forum ever want to discuss the disease that led to Trump. I do continually, but my comments fall on death ears.

You'd think at this point more people would recognize that not being able/willing to ignore Trump is how we got Trump, and is how we'll get him again, but then you'd think a lot of things.

The media and everyone did ignore him in 2016 until he started to win primaries. Ignoring him did not stop him then.

But his popularity is indeed trending downward now. But thats because he IS getting attention. Not despite it.

I would have pretty much forgotten about Trump by now, except they keep bringing him up. I don't watch Fox outside of a random youtube clip here and there, so the main source that's keeping Trump in the forefront for me and those like me, is them.
